Lesson Plans
Sept. 11th - Sept. 15th
Period 2,4, and 9 Mon., Thurs,
Period 3,5, and 10 Tues., Friday.,
Monday/ Tuesday September 11th and 12th
- Start with a quiz on skyward. When completed students will look at grades and receive a paper with any missing work.
- Review video on gravity and add a video with a phenomena of gravity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=517&v=EwY6p-r_hyU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTY1Kje0yLghttps://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+gravity&&view=detail&mid=73FF8BC4A82DD68EB6D173FF8BC4A82DD68EB6D1&FORM=VRDGAR
- Students will work in groups of two and try to model the phenomena on paper. We will share our ideas and collectively try to explain why planets orbit around a star.
- Students will individually work through a phet simulation on gravity. https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/gravity-force-lab/latest/gravity-force-lab_en.html
- Homework is to work through the phet simulation on Gravity and Orbits. https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/gravity-force-lab/latest/gravity-force-lab_en.html
- Homework is to find the formula for gravity and either write it down or send it to me via email by our next class.
Thursday/ Friday September 14th and 15th
- Answer the two questions on skyward about gravity.
- Fill in the paper model of the life cycle of a star.
- Look up the distance from the sun to earth, the diameter of each, the mass of each, the surface features of the sun, the structure of the sun, and the composition of the sun as well as the absolute magnitude of our sun.
- Students will be allowed to chose another star in our universe to compare our sun with using current data. This should be completed in class. A paper guideline will be given to help students compare and contrast the stars.
- Students will be given a H-R Diagram worksheet for homework. Due the following week.
