All classes Friday March 2.

Day 1 Monday/ Tuesday
Start with a skyward review assignment. Remind all students to turn in late or missing work,
especially the articles.  We will create a model of a developing volcano.  Students will be
required to create a drawing trifold of the beginning, middle and end of the model. On the back of
the paper students will be asked to compare volcanoes to mountains.  Students will have
computer time to compare mountains to volcanoes. Part 2 of our lesson - We will go over the
exercise on the web page https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/vsc/predict/EP_look_1000.html followed by
a shared spreadsheet of data to predict three possible volcanic eruptions.  Homework is to
research one current or recent erupting volcano with in the last 10 years.  Students need to find
out if it was predicted or not and why.  Students need to cite sources to explain their answer, due
Friday.  Answers should be in paragraph form.

Day 2  Review all material from Continental Drift, Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, and Volcanoes.
Review convection currents and how it is the major cause of plate movement and volcanoes.
We will go over the glass container demo from the beginning of the unit.  We will look at  essay
questions that will be given as an assessment on Friday.  We will talk about what it will take to
answer the questions thoroughly.  Students will be given the option to work on the questions at
home and/or in class on Friday.
