Wednesday/ Thursday   Start with short video clips. Notes on volcanoes and vocabulary terms.  We will make the point that volcanoes are located on plate boundaries.  Both Earthquakes and volcanoes are results of heat movement from the center of the planet to the  crust. Plate tectonics earthquakes and volcanoes are all interrelated.  Students will fill out a picture of a volcano naming the different parts.  Students will complete a short interactivity. http://www.glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/science/virtual_labs/ES09/ES09.html
We will finish up with a hapara assignment creating a slide presentation of famous volcanoes.

Tuesday/ Wednesday
Start with a skyward assignment on plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanoes.  We will discuss how and why volcanoes erupt.  We will see if there is a way to predict eruptions.  We will try to create an experiment to prove our ideas are correct or off base.  We will be looking at viscosity of magma, temperature of magma, amount of gas in magma, ect.

Thursday/ Friday - Plan is to complete the experiment, graph the results and share with our classmates.  We may find that there are other experiments that need to be completed to find out the information we want to know.
